Week 1 Preview: Giants @ Cowboys

Giants vs. Cowboys Week 1 Preview

By SBRForum.com

The NFL odds have the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants favored over Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys for the opening game of the season.

Being favored in this matchup isn’t all peachy though.

More often than not, we’ve seen the underdogs come through and cover in these NFC East battles. Will Romo be able to conjure up an upset win in Week 1?

He’ll aim to do so leading an extremely potent offense that has two game-changers at both running back (DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones) and wide receiver (Dez Bryant and Miles Austin). If everyone manages to stay relatively healthy, the sky’s the limit for this Cowboys offense.

They’ll tackle a suspect Giants secondary in the opener, but luckily for New York they have a productive offense of their own to call upon.

Eli Manning emerged as one of the game’s elite passers last season, helped by the arrival of Victor Cruz as a premier wideout as well as Hakeem Nicks. The Giants used the draft to get help at running back and they did so by selecting former Virginia Tech Hokie David Wilson with their first pick.

Balance is always nice, but you have to figure both New York and Dallas are going to be throwing the ball quite a bit in this Week 1 encounter.

Picking sides in these rivalry games is always tricky and it’s even tougher when the Giants and Cowboys meet up. That’s why we think a total play on the OVER could be the right way to go.

Manning and Romo have stepped up to become elite quarterbacks over the past few years and only injuries have stopped the latter from realizing his full potential. So many dangerous weapons will be on the field on both sides in this one, so we’re liking the OVER.
