San Francisco running back Frank Gore is expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken right hip, suffered Monday night in the 49ers’ win over Arizona.
Gore was hurt on San Francisco’s first series. He tried to return to the field before going out for good in the second quarter of the Niners’ 27-6 win. He carried five times for 52 yards.
Gore ends his season with 203 carries for 853 yards, both team highs, and three rushing touchdowns. He also has 46 catches for 452 receiving yards and two TD receptions.
Veteran Brian Westbrook, who figures to see more carries in Gore’s absence, rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown Monday night. He’s the 49ers’ second-leading rusher, with 28 carries for 145 yards.
