Rob Gronkowski is heading back to the operating table.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday on “NFL Total Access” that the New England Patriotstight end’s fourth arm surgery is imminent, according to two sources informed of Gronkowski’s prognosis. The plan is for the surgery to happen Monday, though it could happen earlier. Gronkowski had X-rays taken Wednesday as a precursor to surgery.

The Patriots expect Gronkowski to be ready for training camp, but they won’t know have a true idea on his timetable until the plate in his arm is replaced. The plan is to go in and see if the infection has persisted.

If the infection has cleared — Gronkowski has been on antibiotics — no more surgeries are planned. If not, Rapoport reports there will almost certainly be a fifth surgery that would make it unlikely he’d be ready for training camp.

In other words, the Patriots are holding their breath. One more setback — and there have already been a few — and the Patriots will have every reason for legitimate concern.

Per NFL.com:

The San Diego Chargers hoped that linebacker Melvin Ingram would take a big step forward in his second NFL season. Now its seems Ingram won’t have a second season at all. If you like to bet on the NFL and want to throw down on some NFL MOP futures, you know who your best bets are.

If Ingram has a complete tear of the ACL, he’ll undergo surgery that likely will sideline him for the entire 2013 season.

Ingram, the 18th overall pick in the2012 NFL Draft, is coming off an underwhelming rookie season in which he made only one start in 16 games. He finished with 16 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

The injury leaves the Chargersextremely thin at outside linebacker. Two options last season – Shaun Phillips and Antwan Barnes – left the team in free agency.

Don’t be surprised if the Chargers enter the mix for veterans Dwight Freeney and John Abraham. The loss of Ingram leaves a serious void in San Diego’s pass rush.

The release of the upcoming season’s NFL schedule is one of the most anticipated days of the year. Those looking to place a wager on your favroite team should visit the TopBettingReviews.com website to find your play. Now that the NFL’s 2013 regular-season schedule has been unveiled, here are 25 games we can’t wait to see:

1. Broncos at Colts, Oct. 20: Peyton Manning’s first game at Lucas Oil Stadium in a visiting uniform … against Andrew Luck, the man who made his four-time MVP predecessor expendable after 14 years? Delicious.

2. Ravens at Broncos, Sept. 5: The season kicks off with the defending champs playing their first game ever without Ray Lewis — on the road at the same site where they dealt Denver a stunning overtime loss in last season’s playoffs. Elvis Dumervil will also be back in the building but wearing purple.

3. Broncos at Patriots, Nov. 24: Peyton v. Brady has become an annual rite of autumn. But Wes Welker’s return to Foxborough provides an extra layer of intrigue which could render the quarterbacks as a mere sidebar.

4. Broncos at Giants, Sept. 15: Manning Bowl III provides Eli with another chance (could it be his last?) to knock off big brother Peyton, who led the Colts past the Giants in 2006 and 2010.

5. Falcons at Saints, Sept. 8: Expect liberated head coach Sean Payton to get quite the raucous welcome from the home fans as he coaches in the Superdome for the first time since Jan. 7, 2012, when New Orleans beat the Lions 45-28 in a wild-card game.

6. 49ers at Seahawks, Sept. 15: A new Cold War has developed on the Pacific Coast, escalated by a virtual offseason arms race. And don’t forget, Russell Wilson and Seattle won their first meeting against Colin Kaepernick’s 49ers 42-13 on Dec. 23.

7. Eagles at Redskins, Sept. 9: Will the “insane” offense of new Philly coach Chip Kelly be NFL-ready as he fully unveils it for the first time in the Monday Night Footballopener? Will Washington QB Robert Griffin III’s knee be ready in what would presumably be his first matchup against Michael Vick (he missed both games vs. the ‘Skins in 2012)? Some intriguing questions will be answered.

8. Texans at Ravens, Sept. 22: It may not exactly be two tickets to paradise, but new Houston safety Ed Reed will get a fully paid trip to Baltimore to play against his employer of the previous 11 seasons. Though he’ll be behind enemy lines, expect Reed to get a loving welcome from the home crowd.

9. Falcons at 49ers, Dec. 23: The venue and the rosters will be different, but the teams will be the same for this NFC Championship Game rematch. Atlanta will be packing a new running back, Steven Jackson, a man whom the Niners are quite familiar with and who might’ve enabled the Falcons to keep their 17-0 lead in January’s conference title tilt. WR Anquan Boldin and CB Nnamdi Asomugha are among San Francisco’s newcomers.

10. Patriots at Ravens, Dec. 22: The AFC Championship Game entrants from the past two seasons will also meet once again. The Ravens have won two straight and three of five in the series. Bill Belichick had a run-in with a replacement ref during New England’s visit to Baltimore last season.

11. 49ers at Redskins, Nov. 25: A pairing of 2012 division winners is juicy in itself. But that will be the subplot as Colin Kaepernick and RGIII face off for the first time.

12. Chiefs at Eagles, Sept. 19: Wear earmuffs, Andy Reid … though there’s a fair chance your new team will be much better than your previous one in 2013.

13. Packers at Ravens, Oct. 13: Looks sweet on paper. Speaking of paper, the Baltimore defense doesn’t look quite as good after an offseason overhaul. Aaron Rodgers will give the new version quite a litmus test.

14. Colts at 49ers, Sept. 22: Another instance of 2012 playoff clubs squaring off as Luck returns to the Bay Area against Jim Harbaugh, his old coach at Stanford. Watching Luck contrast styles with Kaepernick will be a treat.

15. Redskins at Packers, Sept. 15: Green Bay was shredded by Kaepernick in the 2012 postseason. After a focused effort to combat the read option this offseason, how will the Pack fare vs. RGIII?

16. Seahawks at Falcons, Nov. 10: Their playoff battle in January was arguably the best of the 2012 postseason. The stakes won’t be the same, but the game could be just as good.

17. Packers at 49ers, Sept. 8: Kaepernick rushed for a quarterback record 181 yards in that 45-31 win that kicked off San Fran’s playoff march to Super Bowl XLVII. Rodgers will hope his first regular-season start in his native Northern California goes better than his most recent visit to Candlestick Point.

18. Patriots at Texans, Dec. 1: Houston was flying high at 11-1 before last season’s Week 14 beatdown at New England. Then they got spanked again at Gillette Stadium in the playoffs. The Texans now get another crack, this time on their own turf, and should find out if they’re truly ready to be AFC heavyweights.

19. Seahawks at Colts, Oct. 6: Two up-and-coming teams with two up-and-coming quarterbacks as Wilson and Luck highlight this clash in Indy. Luck and Ryan Tannehill will also lock horns Sept. 15 in another showdown of 2012 draft class quarterbacks.

20. Saints at Patriots, Oct. 13: It’s too bad we’re only treated to Brees-Brady/Payton-Belichick once every four years. Fortunately, this is one of them.

21. Steelers at Packers, Dec. 22: It’s been three years since these teams met in Super Bowl XLV. Though they’ve both changed significantly since, a meeting of two of the league’s most tradition-laden franchises remains a titillating one.

22. Dolphins at Patriots, Oct. 27: Time to find out if Miami’s offseason spending spree narrowed the gap in the AFC East.

23. Bears at Packers, Nov. 4: Jay Cutler has been truly abysmal at Lambeau Field (0-3 record, 2 TD passes, 10 INTs). He visits this time with a much better left tackle, Jermon Bushrod, and offensive visionary Marc Trestman as his coach. Time to see if the new formula in Chicago produces a better result in the NFL’s longest-running rivalry (this will be the teams’ 187th meeting).

24. Redskins at Vikings, Nov. 7: Did you know that league MVP Adrian Peterson has never cracked 100 rushing yards against Washington and has averaged just 45 in four career meetings? Maybe this time he’ll run roughshod against the team that put him out of commission in 2011.

25. Steelers vs. Vikings, Sept. 29: The Brits should enjoy watching Peterson try to pierce what’s been the NFL’s No. 1 defense four of the past six seasons. As for that 49ers-Jaguars game at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 27? Might as well stay at the pub and watch traditional European football.

The 2013 NFL Draft and 2013 Kentucky Derby are both just around the corner. Visit KentuckyDerbyOnline.com for more information on this incredible event.

Linebacker Manti Te’o has the chance to make up for a disappointing combine performance at Notre Dame’s Pro Day on Tuesday.

Catfishing nonsense aside, it was Te’o's sluggish 4.82 40-yard time at last month’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that raised doubts about his potential as a three-down linebacker. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock, however, still sees first-round material. Anyone looking for betting information on the Kentucky Derby should be sure to do their research ahead of time.

“I believe it,” Mayock told “NFL AM” on Tuesday from South Bend, Ind. “Here’s what I think is going to happen. I think the interest in (Te’o) will start approximately at 19 with theGiants, 20 with Chicago. The real soft spot is Minnesota — they have two first-round picks, 23 and 25. They lost their inside linebacker Jasper Brinkley to free agency and their general manager, Rick Spielman, who’s here by the way, has a history of drafting Notre Dame players that have played really well. So 23, 25 to me is a logical place, 28 to Denver perhaps, or even Baltimore at 32 because we know they have a big hole in the middle of that defense.”

Added Mayock: “You either like this kid and you believe he’s a three-down linebacker and hence worthy of a first-round pick, or you don’t.”

Mayock expects Te’o to produce a pro-day 40 time “somewhere in that 4.75, 4.8 range.” That won’t silence Te’o's critics, but his field speed — and his ability to drop back against the pass — matters most to teams. They also want to know what kind of person they’re getting.

Prior to the phantom-girlfriend scandal, Te’o was seen in a different light, a player whose teammates rallied around him. Mayock believes he can still be a “galvanizing force in the locker room.” A team like the Baltimore Ravens makes plenty of sense as they replace old soldiers with fresh legs.

Tuesday’s pro day is obviously critical for Te’o, but results aside, he only needs one team to believe in him come draft day. That’s going to happen.

Earlier this week, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams would be reinstated by the NFL; La Canfora also reported previously that Williams had already agreed to become the Titans’ assistant head coach on defense.

Both moves are now official, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Titans coach Mike Munchak announcing the respective moves on Thursday. With the NFL on hiatus until August, this is a perfect time to prepare our Final Four Betting for March madness!

“Commissioner Roger Goodell today notified Gregg Williams and the Tennessee Titans that Williams’ contract with the Titans has been approved and that he has been reinstated,” the NFL said in a statement. “The commissioner cited several reasons for the reinstatement, including Williams’ forthcoming acknowledgement of and acceptance of responsibility for his role in the bounty program at the Saints, his commitment to never again be involved in a pay-for-performance or bounty system, and his pledge to teach safe play and respect for the rules at all levels of the game.

“The commissioner emphasized that Williams must fully conform to league rules and will be subject to periodic monitoring to confirm his compliance.”

The Titans’ defense should face some scrutiny, but Williams is simply taking the position of “Senior Assistant/Defense,” so it’s not as if he’ll be directly in charge of that unit. Tennessee’s press conference on Thursday afternoon should be spicy at the very least though, with Munchak getting plenty of questions about the decision to move forward with Williams on his staff.

“I have known Gregg for over two decades and have seen him work his way up from a quality control coach to a head coach,” Munchak said in a statement. “He will bring a great deal of defensive knowledge and energy to our staff. The decision to bring him here only came after going through a thoughtful and thorough process.”

Williams is going to keep drawing plenty of attention. And whether the Titans players respond to having him on staff will be interesting as well; he didn’t exactly come across during the bounty scandal as someone who wouldn’t throw a player under the bus.

Regardless, he has clearly had success on defense. If he can help turn around a below-average Titans defense in 2012, it’ll certainly be a decent start on restoring his reputation.

The dust has barely settled on the Baltimore Ravens win in this year’s Super Bowl, and already people have begun to speculate about who will win the next one. The betting sites have already started to release odds information for the new season which, although it is far from being foolproof when it comes to the eventual winners, at least gives those betting on it something to go on. Of course, if you want to combine NFL and betting in a slightly less risky way there are always NFL themed games at online casino sites like Lucky Nugget, but for everyone else these are the current favourites.

Unsurprisingly this season’s winners, the Baltimore Ravens, are amongst the favourites for the 2013 season – rated 12/1 at most of the betting sites. What is more surprising is that they are not the hot favourites, with several teams having shorter odds, but it should be remembered that they had longer odds – 22/1 – last season, and that didn’t stop them. The side currently rated favourites for the 2013 season are the Denver Broncos, with odds of 7/1, but again the Broncos were favourites for the season just past – and failed to make the grade. However the big news for the Broncos is the return to fitness of star quarterback Peyton Manning, and his presence is one of the major reasons they are rated such short odds for the coming season.

However, star players can always get injured, and there are also a host of other factors that can prevent a team from living up to the hype – just ask fans of the Broncos! The triumph of the Ravens shows how tough it is to get it right, and why some fans prefer to play NFL themed casino slot games like $5 Million Touchdown, which are available at online casino sites. Obviously the biggest single attraction of this game is that amazing maximum jackpot, but for NFL fans, the bonus game which involves the gamer passing the ball from one player to another, accruing bonus credits, as they try to score a touchdown, will be just as big a part of the appeal.

Ray Lewis’ last ride has ended with a Ravens coronation, and the vision he has been telling his teammates about for more than a decade is now fulfilled.

Twelve years since they won their first Super Bowl with Lewis and the defense leading the way, the Ravens reigned again, finishing off a surprising playoff run with a thrilling 34-31 victory Sunday night over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Behind the arm of Joe Flacco, the legs of Jacoby Jones and a defense that stiffened at the most crucial time, the Ravens survived a frantic comeback attempt to send Lewis out on top and give coachJohn Harbaugh bragging rights over his brother, Jim, coach of the 49ers.

When the two brothers, separated in age by 15 months, met at midfield after the game, John said, he told Jim that he loved him.

“It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t perfect, but it was us,” said John Harbaugh, who took the Lombardi Trophy from owner Steve Bisciotti and held it aloft. “The final series of Ray Lewis’ career was a goal line stand to win the Lombardi Trophy. As Ray said on the podium, how could it be any better than that?”

But it wasn’t easy, especially after a 34-minute power outage in the Superdome cost the Ravens the momentum they had gained in the first half and from Jacoby Jones’ 108-yard kickoff return to start the second half. Following the stoppage in the third quarter, the 49ers scored 17 straight points to cut the Ravens’ lead to 28-23.

“I just knew that with Jim Harbaugh on the other sideline and all those years being together, that those guys were going to come back,” John Harbaugh said. “Those guys handled [the delay] better than we did.”

But before the darkness, the game was all about Flacco. Completing one of the best postseasons for a quarterback ever, Flacco threw three first-half touchdown passes to capture the Super Bowl MVP award and perhaps, quiet his skeptics for good. Jones, who caught one of those touchdowns, gave the Ravens a 28-6 lead before the power cut out.

But fittingly, after a season in which they lost four of their final five regular-season games, battled injuries and had several players deal with personal tragedies, the Ravens needed one more defensive stand to win the Super Bowl.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who fueled the 49ers’ comeback by driving their offense to three second-half touchdowns and a field goal, got his team down to the Ravens’ 5-yard line with two minutes to go. However, three straight incompletions, the final one just eluding the grasp of Michael Crabtree, gave the Ravens the ball back.

Less than two minutes later and only after Josh Bynes pulled downTed Ginn Jr. at midfield on a free kick return, the Ravens burst toward the middle of the field to celebrate. Several players had a pile-on near midfield as the purple confetti rained down on them. Other players did snow angels in the pile of confetti as a pro-Ravens crowd , which sweated through the final minutes of the 49ers’ comeback attempt, erupted.

It was exactly the scene that Lewis, as the team’s only previous Super Bowl winner, had been telling his fellow players about for so many years.

“We finished it. It just shows what our team was built for. We were here to finish this race and we finished it,” Lewis said. “I wanted to see their faces when that confetti came out of the sky. … That’s the greatest reward as a leader, to talk to them about a vision and then finishing it. To bring Baltimore a second ring before I hang up my cleats, there’s just no better way to go out.”

Now Lewis, the only remaining player from the team that blitzed the New York Giants to win Super Bowl XXXV, and his teammates will get one more ride, a trip through the streets of downtown Baltimore for a parade Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m..

It was Ozzie Newsome’s second title, further solidifying him as one of the game’s best general managers. But the top executives had said all week that this was about the players and nobody enjoyed the victory any more than safety Ed Reed, who had played 11 years to get this opportunity.

After the victory, which came less than a half hour from where he grew up, Reed went sideline-to-sideline whooping it up with fans. He called the victory a microcosm of the Ravens’ season.

“Started good, got ugly, ended great,” said Reed who had an interception in the game.

Then there was Flacco who completed a near-perfect postseason — he had 11 touchdowns and no interceptions in the postseason — by completing 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns. When the 49ers cut the Ravens’ once-comfortable lead to 28-23 following scores on three straight possessions, Flacco answered with a drive that resulted in a Justin Tucker 19-yard field goal.

Following a 15-yard touchdown run by Kaepernick and a failed two-point conversion that left the Ravens with a 31-29 advantage with 9:57 left, Flacco engineered another march, this one ending with Tucker bootintg it through the uprights with 4:19 to play. Flacco then went to the sideline and, like everybody else, held his breath as the Ravens’ defense, the second most effective red zone group during the regular season, held San Francisco out of the end zone.

Flacco threw first-half touchdowns to – a 13-yarder to Anquan Boldin on the Ravens’ first drive, a 1-yard connection with Dennis Pitta to make it 14-3 and then a 56-yard strike to Jones to make it a 21-3 game. Jones came back for the ball, tumbled to the turf and then got up when he went untouched and ran into the end zone. In the process, Flacco tied Joe Montana and Kurt Warner for the most touchdowns in a postseason.

When Jones then burst through the middle and returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a 108-yard touchdown and a 28-6 lead, the Ravens appeared to be well on their way to a second title. There was still nearly 30 minutes left to play, but to that point, the Ravens had dominated in every way.

A 31-yard Kaepernick touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree, who spun off Cary Williams and Bernard Pollard, made it 28-13. Then just over two minutes later, the 49ers got a long punt return from Ginn to set up a 6-yard touchdown run by Frank Gore to make it 28-20.

“At no point in the game did we think that we were going to lose,” said linebacker Terrell Suggs who had played 10 seasons before winning his first title. “As long as we had the lead, we knew we had them. They can call us whatever we want but they’ve got to put champions on it. The Baltimore Ravens are world champions, baby.”

Congrats to the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, who both defeated higher-seeded opponents on the road to punch tickets to the Super Bowl. Want to make some money on the game? William hill free bet is the place to win some serious cash on the Super Bowl.

Two storylines you’re going to be sick of by Wednesday:

1. Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh are the first brothers to hold NFL head coaching jobs at the same time, so it’s obviously the first time siblings have faced each other in the Super Bowl. We’re going to hear more about their respective childhoods than we can handle between now and kickoff.

2. Ray Lewis will scream. He’ll cry. He’ll preach. He’ll mention God once or twice. Rogue media jerks might even touch on the the murder he attempted to help cover up in 2000. For the next two weeks, you’ll hear Lewis’ name more than that of any other player in this game. By a wide margin.

Tale of the tape:

* The Ravens and Niners are a combined 6-0 in the Super Bowl. Five of those wins belong to the Niners, but San Fran hasn’t been in the game since the 1994 season. Baltimore beat the New York Giants in 2000.

* In the only matchup ever between sibling head coaches, Baltimore defeated San Francisco 16-6 in a defensive showdown last November. Baltimore controlled the clock, had fewer penalties and was better on third down. And since both teams are very similar now, that’s significant. The one big difference is that Alex Smith quarterbacked the 49ers in that game. Colin Kaepernick has replaced Smith and the Niners have encorporated the read option since.

* San Francisco has won five out of six. Baltimore has won four out of five. The Ravens are averaging 30 points per game these playoffs, while the 49ers are averaging 33 points per game since Week 17. But both defenses have slipped up a bit lately. Baltimore surrendered 35 points to Denver in the divisional playoffs and San Fran has given up 31 or more points in three of its last five games.

* The 49ers are 6-3 against teams that finished above .500. They lost to the Vikings, Giants and Seahawks, but they’ve also beaten Green Bay twice and they beat the Patriots, Bears, Seahawks and Falcons as well. Baltimore is 6-4 against teams with winning records. Four of those losses came in their final five such games to finish the season, and two came in blowout fashion. But they’ve obviously now won three straight against Indianapolis, Denver and New England.

* Kaepernick has never had more than 271 passing yards in a game, but he’s coming off of one of his best performances of the year. He had the second-highest passer rating and completion percentage of his career against the Falcons. But Joe Flacco has now won eight playoff games, which is more than every active quarterback except Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. He’s the only active quarterback with more than five playoff wins who doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring.

* Baltimore had six Pro Bowlers. San Francisco had nine.
